Welcome to my newest blog. As I get older, I find that I have become more philosophical and more aware of my true life, as opposed to my perception of my real life. There have been many twists and turns, good and bad decisions, triumphs and defeats in what may appear to be an average life.

My name is Gary Friedman. I am a 2 time cancer survivor trying so hard to make it 3 time cancer survivor. This occurrence came totally unexpected. beginning Aug.1 with laryngitis and after ct scans, pt scans, ultrasound, blood markers, a tumor was discovered causing my vocal chord to paralyze. The tumor is located where there are adhesion from surgery 8 years ago for esophageal cancer.....which, although there is not a clear diagnosis yet, the mds believe that the cancer is either esophageal or testicular, as those markers are high.
Going for a biopsy of upper lobe of left lung to get a better idea as to the type of cancer tissue in the lymph nodes there. Once the oncologist and ent figure out the cancer, they will start me on the appropriate treatment.
I am having trouble with sleeping. lack of energy, total loss of appetite (even before chemo and radiation) and very angry, as this is our time (Marti and me) to enjoy our new home in AZ. Bowling is a back page thought, as I don't have energy to walk down the hallway of the house....how could I possibly bowl even 3 game league or 8 game tournament.
This is the first of, hopefully, many entries as we take another journey into the depths of cancer with, hopefully, the same outcome as the other times.
Thank you in advance for following the trip......I'll try to keep it interesting, informative, all the while, maintaining my sense of humor.
